MGM’s Feldman Named As Chairman of NCRG

The National Center for Responsible Gaming last month announced Alan M. Feldman, senior vice president of public affairs for MGM Resorts International, has been named the new chairman of the organization’s board of directors. Feldman replaces Glenn C. Christenson, managing director of the investment firm Velstand Investments, LLC, who has served as chairman of the board of directors for three years and will remain on the board. The NCRG board also elected Mark Vander Linden, executive officer of the Office of Gambling Treatment and Prevention at the Iowa Department of Public Health, to join as a board member.

UK Gambling Commission Censures “Red or Black”

Simon Cowell’s UK game show “Red or Black” has been censured by the UK Gambling Commission for glamorizing gambling.

ITV, the company that produces and airs the show met with representatives from the commission last week to discuss concerns over the show’s format. Among the concerns are that the show makes gambling look too easy. Reportedly the commission has requested that contestants on the show demonstrate some degree of skill to win the cash in future shows.

So far Red or Black has been somewhat of a disappointment for ITV, as the show has given lower ratings than expected.

Belgium Announces First Three Online Poker Licenses

The Belgian Gaming Commission announced the recipients of the small European country’s first three online poker licenses and warned illegal operators that the gaming commission would work to block access to unauthorized domains.
The approved sites for online poker in Belgium are PokerStars.be, Partouche.be, and Casino777.be. The three initial sites are going to be joined by four internet casinos that have associations with land based locations inside Belgium as well as two sports books.
