Following their purchase of the Cake Poker Network, Lock Poker intends to strike out on their own. By the end of May, the company plans to relaunch their latest acquisition as the Revolution Gaming Network. This rebranding, Lock says, will result in a greatly improved user experience.

One of the things that I find heartening about the recent history of the casino industry is the rapid acceptance of gaming as a legitimate business by colleges and universities around the world.

Online gambling trade association the Interactive Gaming Council has publicly urged the Canadian province of Ontario to regulate and license online gambling in order to provide legal clarity, protect players, and generate tax revenues.

A statement released by the IGC on Thursday spoke about how Ontario is facing debt issues and asks where revenue generating opportunities are being exploited.

The IGC statement read:

“The Interactive Gaming Council applauds this direction, as it supports the backbone of a regulatory model for online gaming.”

“The OLG has publicly declared its intentions to enter this (online gambling) space in 2013, and we hope that the corporation’s preferred model for its existing operations will also be applied to any new offerings and will not follow the current model of picking only one supplier.”

“Online gaming is an activity that people are enjoying in great numbers.

March 29 – Sportingbet, the online gaming operator which famously reached a plea-deal with the US Department of Justice in 2010 to pay $33 million in return for non-prosecution, is prepared to return to the US gambling market.

This week, Sportingbet completed its third and final payment to the Department of Justice, allowing the group to target the lucrative US online gaming market – when or if it is licensed and regulated – without fear of prosecution.

The final $6 million installment was paid to the Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Sportingbet, a UK online gambling company, admitted in September 2010 that it had operated in the US gambling market between 1998 and 2006, and had even tried to disguise payment to US players.

As such, the plea-deal’s sum of $33 million was based on the amount that the company earned over that eight-year period prior to the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

Sportingbet currently has over two million customers, with most of them spread across Europe, Canada, Australia, South Africa and South America.

As a result of the final settlement and speculation of Sportingbet’s return to the US gambling market, share prices for the group rose 0.5p to 39.5 p on the London Stock Exchange.

Daniel Kim Tzvetkoff seems to be many things to many different people.  He is a son who was born in October, 1983, in Ipswich, Queensland.  He is a genius who started a web design business when he was only 13 years old.  He is an entrepreneur who founded Intabill, an online billing company, with Sam Sciacca in 2004.

According to Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars, Tzvetkoff is also a thief.  Despite making up to $150,000 per day while processing an estimated $1B in online payments for the internet gaming heavyweights and Absolute Poker, Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars allege Tzvetkoff siphoned approximately $100M from their operations.

As April 9, 2012, draws near, Tzvetkoff has been identified as a government informant as well.  On April 9, Chad Elie, a Las Vegas businessman, and John Campos, an executive with SunFirst Bank in Utah, go on trial for multiple offenses, including money laundering and conspiracy to commit bank fraud.  If convicted, Elie could be sentenced to a maximum of 85 years in prison while Campos is facing up to 35 years behind bars.
