Tobey McGuire Named in High Stakes Poker Lawsuit
June 23rd, 2011 | by Jessica Teakle |Tobey McGuire, known to most as the former Spider Man, is now making headlines for winning a bunch of money playing poker with a now imprisoned ponzi schemer.
To recoup his funds, the dastardly schemer named Brad Ruderman, is arguing that because the poker games he engaged in with McGuire were not played on legal turf, McGuire won the money illegally.
Now Ruderman wants his poker losses back hoping to use the money to pay off outstanding debts he owes when he mislead investors by using their money to rack up debts in high stakes poker games.
The high stakes games went down at pricy hotels in L.A., and now Rudermans bankruptcy trustees are claiming that McGuire, along with a plethora of other poker-playing celebrities, took Rudermans money illegally even though Ruderman was engaged in the same poker games. It is unknown how much McGuire won from Ruderman, but TMZ speculates and upwards of $300K.
MaGuire is just only one of several high-profile people named in the lawsuit. Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis, who has famously feuded with casino mogul Steve Wynn, as well as Paris Hiltons sex tape partner and Pamela Andersons ex-husband Rick Salomon are also among those who won money from Ruderman.
